Brian Maidman has been appointed to board of BAR
- The British Association of Removers
Brian Maidman, co-founder of Dorset removals and storage company
Maidman's, has been appointed to the board of directors of the
British Association of Removers (BAR).
Brian starts his two-year appointment on the strategy and
policy-making board after ten years service on the national
committee for BAR Commercial Movers Group.
His company Maidman's is a long-standing member of BAR and its
Overseas Group. In 2008 it became the first company in the UK to
gain all three BSI quality standards relevant to the removals
industry.
Brian has served as BAR area secretary, vice chairman and
chairman - and the same for BAR's training arm, TMI.
Brian said: "I don't have an agenda or a campaign, I just want to
feel my way into the new position and see which issues emerge that I
feel strongly about."
"Joining the board will help me expand my knowledge of BAR and
influence decision-making at board level. My knowledge and
experience spanning nearly 30 years in the industry and commercial
experience of running my own business should help in that
contribution."
This was the first time BAR held open, direct elections for
ordinary members of the BAR Board and said the election would give a
better voice to the membership.
Three appointments were made from seven candidates and 137
member& companies took part in the voting.
